Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of discipline and learning ethics, the factors causing behavioral problems, and the efforts made to address these issues in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Education in class VIII B of SMP IT Al Hidayah. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, PAI teacher, homeroom teacher, and students. The findings indicate that students’ discipline and learning ethics are generally at a moderate level but are not consistently practiced. The main problems identified include tardiness, lack of learning readiness, low concentration, and chatting during lessons. These issues are influenced by fatigue from boarding school activities, low learning motivation, peer influence, and lesson scheduling. To address them, teachers and the school implement warnings, educational punishments, personal guidance, character-building programs, and religious activities. In conclusion, the main issue lies in the inconsistent implementation of discipline and learning ethics rather than a lack of understanding of these values.
